With three major events coming up for SBC in London, Miami and New Jersey, the company has plans to provide a stage for a plethora of industry discussions and insights.

Speaking to Curtis Roach on the iGamingFuture Leadership Series, SBC’s Founder and CEO Rasmus Sojmark discussed the upcoming international conferences, and looked back at the success of the firm’s Barcelona event.

Looking ahead to SBC Summit Latinoamérica event, starting tomorrow and ending on Thursday 27 October, the SBC CEO explained the rationale behind hosting the event in Miami, Florida, which he believes will provide the ideal opportunity for US, Central and South American gaming industry delegates to attend, discuss and hear insights on developments in the region.

The two day event in the heart of Miami will see a total of 500 delegates, including 200 representing betting and gaming operators and 35% from gaming suppliers, and over 100 world class speakers.

Delegates will come from across the betting and sporting sectors, including leading operators such as Entain, FanDuel and bet365 and major international sports governing bodies such as FIFA and CONMEBOL, as well as multiple suppliers and affiliates.

“Every country and every region is different in terms of how you deal with things and how you allow people to travel – it’s very complicated,” Sojmark detailed. “We want to make it happen, we want to bring people together as long as they feel comfortable, right? In terms of Latin America, the original plan was to do it in Cancun in Mexico.”

He continued: “Because Mexico had a lot of COVID cases, it got a bit complicated, trying to organise some news, so we said, okay, Miami at that point was looking fairly good, low cases of COVID and it’s accessible from all countries in LatAm, besides Brazil, at this stage.

“We also knew that if we do that, we could pull a bit in from the US that has a strong has a strong interest in the Latin American market, and nd there’s a lot of people in Miami as well, at that time, and the US business, of course.

Lastly, looking back on SBC’s latest event in Barcelona, Sojmark noted the star studded ensemble of betting industry attendants, two of whom in particular stood out due to their appearances occurring at pivotal moments in their company’s history.

“We had some amazing keynote speakers that were drawing a lot of interest from the industry,” Sojmark began. “We had the CEO of Entain, Jette Nygaard-Andrsen, who was opening up the exhibition and the conference. The day before, the evening before, DraftKings put in a $22.5 million bid for Entain, and we were unsure what the procedure would be, would she not be able to do the keynote in the morning?”

“But Jette is a very strong Dane, and we all know Danes like me,” he continued jokingly. “She obviously was at the event, gave an amazing keynote and it shows how strong Entain are as a group, with lots of acquisitions recently.

“On Day Two we had Carsten Korel, a friend of mine and the CEO and Founder of Sportradar – he was there on Thursday morning a week after being in New York going public with his company and fist bumping Michael Jordan.”
