When the traditional number nine almost seemed like a dying breed in the modern game with a focus on ‘false nines’, they have made somewhat of a comeback over recent months.
Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez fit that mould to a tee since their arrival to the Premier League, and ever-present goalscorers such as Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski have been receiving more respect and admiration for their consistent goalscoring brilliance.
With that in mind, BetVictor host Flav, was joined by Adam McKola and Buvey to rank the best starting Premier League stickers from 10 of the league’s top teams.
Ranked in categories (Best In League, Top Class Striker, Solid PL Striker, Decent, and Finished), there wasn’t much debate on why Haaland ranked as the league’s best, although not without debate from Spurs fan Flav for Harry Kane to take that honour.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Gabriel Jesus were all included in the ranking, as well as a familiar face in Diego Costa having recently joined Wolverhampton Wanderers.
There were also controversial opinions on Liverpool’s £85m striker Nunez, with both Buvey and McKola failing to see why there is so much hype surrounding the Uruguayan.
